Strong cooperative movement for strong cooperative sector: Kangar

Chandigarh, June 27: The Punjab State Cooperative Bank today commenced e-Stamp paper, e-Registration and e-Court fees services to its customers. Under an agreement inked by the bank with the Stock Holding Corporation of India as a result of which the services were started today.The formal inauguration was done today at the head office of the bank at Sector-34 by the Cooperation Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and the Revenue Minister Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar.

In his address on the occasion, S. Randhawa said that this novel initiative of e-Stamping has been started today at the 32 tehsils through the 27 branches situated in different parts of the state. He also said that this would be prove to be of great help to the customers of the bank especially the farming sector. Describing cooperative banks as the backbone of the farming sector, the minister said that the department has taken a decision to upgrade the branches of the Central Cooperative Banks and make them customer friendly.

Apart from this, all out efforts would also be made to improve the financial lot of Agricultural Cooperative Societies. The Cooperation Minister further said that this initiative would lead to the saving of precious time of the people and would save them the harassment. The farmers would be spared the burden of cash carrying and the financial position of the banks would be strengthened because the daily sale of the e-Stamps worth Rs. 8 crore-Rs. 10 crores is expected.

Besides, the belief of the people about getting fair deal while dealing with the cooperative banks would be cemented. Addressing on the occasion, Revenue Minister Mr. Gurpreet Singh said that the unique initiative of the Cooperation Department would directly benefit the farming community at the ground level. He also disclosed that the cooperative movement is scaling new heights under the leadership of S. Randhawa. He also called for the strengthening in order to save the farming sector.

Divulging more, he said that with the beginning of e-Stamp paper, e-Registration and e-Court fees the customers wouldn’t have to carry cash with them and this would be of immense help in people getting the stamp papers without much fuss.

On the occasion, the Additional Chief Secretary cum Financial Commissioner (Cooperation) said that the Central banks always understand the problems of the customers and are forever ready to provide every facility to them. As part of this, the bank has commenced these services under which the customers can make a purchase of the stamp paper worth Rs. 20,000 or more from the branches of the Central Cooperative banks.

The Cooperation Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Revenue Minister Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar earlier formally inaugurated the services and issued online stamp papers to the old customers of the bank which included Mr. Ravinder Goyal, Mr. Som Dutt Sharma, Mr. Hargobid Aggarwal, Mr. Devi Dayal Goyal, Mr. Vivek Goyal and Mr. Sunil Bhasin.

The MD of the Punjab State Cooperative Bank Dr. S.K. Batish thanked the Chief Guest and all the other dignitaries and assured that the bank would continue to strive for providing new and unique services to the customers from time to time.

Among others present included MLAs Mr. Parminder Singh Pinki and Mr. Kulbir Singh Zira, Chief General Manager of NABARD Mr. JPS Bindra, Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Devinder Singh, Additional Registrar Mrs. Nisha Rana, Head (Government Business) Mr. Vivek Khurana and Regional General Manager Mr. Pramod Joshi. The compeering was done by the Additional Managing Director (Banking) Mr. Bhupinder Singh.
