British Royal Navy’s F-35B Fighter Jet Takes Off from Thiruvananthapuram After Emergency Landing
British Fighter Jet in Kerala News– The British Royal Navy’s F-35B fighter jet, which had been remained at Thiruvananthapuram Airport for over a month following an emergency landing, took off on Tuesday at 10:15 AM and is en route to Darwin in Northern Australia, The Indian Express reported, citing airport sources.
A 14-member engineering team from the UK, which had been working on repairing the aircraft for the past two weeks, is still in India and is expected to return on a flight scheduled for Wednesday. The pilot of the aircraft had reached Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
According to officials cited in the report, the airport has charged approximately rupees 5 lakh for parking and landing fees.
“The fee for using the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the airport will be fixed by Air India as per the norms,” an official was quoted as saying.
The aircraft had made an emergency landing on June 14 in the capital city of Kerala during a routine sortie outside India’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
