Electric vehicle sales in India recorded strong growth in February, driven by rising demand for both passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations.

Retail registrations of electric passenger vehicles rose 44 percent year-on-year in February.
Key highlights:
• Total sales reached 13,733 units in February 2026, compared with 9,505 units in the same month last year.
• Tata Motors led the segment with a market share of about 38.5 percent. The company sold 5,568 vehicles, up from 4,020 units in February 2025.
• JSW MG Motor India recorded sales of 3,312 units, slightly lower than 3,490 units a year earlier.
• Mahindra & Mahindra reported strong growth with 2,913 units sold, compared with 508 units in February last year.
• Other manufacturers included VinFast with 384 units and BYD with 306 units.
Electric two-wheeler market
The electric two-wheeler segment also registered significant growth during the month.
• Total sales increased 46 percent to 1,11,709 units, compared with 76,722 units in February 2025.
• TVS Motor Company led the segment with 31,614 units sold.
• Bajaj Auto recorded sales of 25,328 units.
• Ather Energy sold 20,584 vehicles during the month.
• Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric Mobility recorded sales of 12,514 and 4,724 units respectively.
• Sales at Ola Electric declined to 3,968 units from 8,675 units in the same month last year.
