Air India Completes DGCA-Mandated Inspections on Boeing Aircraft Latest News: Air India has completed precautionary inspections on the locking mechanism of the Engine Fuel Control Switch (FCS) on all Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet, with no issues found, the airline said in a press release on Tuesday.
Boeing 737 aircraft are part of the fleet of Air India Express, Air India’s low-cost subsidiary.
The inspections were mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India's aviation watchdog, to be conducted on Air India’s Boeing 787 aircraft and Air India Express’s Boeing 737 aircraft.
Air India stated, “With this, the two airlines have complied with the directives of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued on July 14, 2025.”
“In the inspections, no issues were found with the said locking mechanism. Air India had started voluntary inspections on July 12 and completed them within the prescribed time limit set by the DGCA. The same has been communicated to the regulator,” the airline added.
The DGCA had ordered the inspection of the switches’ locking mechanisms on most India-registered Boeing commercial aircraft by July 21.
This directive was in line with the Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in December 2018.
