India has won the ODI Cricket World Cup twice

ICC World Cup 2023 Final, IND vs AUS News: The stage is all set! The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad is all set not only for the mega air show or the light show but also primarily for the biggest match of 2023 -- India vs Australia, the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. On one hand, it's Inda who has been undefeated in this entire tournament while on the other hand, it's Australia who was at the last in the initial stage of the World Cup but ended up securing a place in the semis and defeating South Africa to enter the finals.

India has won the ODI Cricket World Cup twice, once in 1983, the team led by legendary Kapil Dev, and then in 2011, under the leadership of yet another legend MS Dhoni. In 2003, India finished as runners-up but it's 2023 and this year, India has qualified for the finals of the World Cup after dominating New Zealand in the finals.

It was Mohammed Shami, Man of the Match against New Zealand in the semis. Not just 1 or 2, Shami took 7 wickets in the match. It was not only the World Cup's semifinal against New Zealand in which he dominated the opponents but also threw several fireballs claiming wickets in the ongoing World Cup. It seems no one has the answer to the questions that Mr. Shami has been asking.

It is pertinent to mention that India has been participating in every edition of the tournament since 1975 and won their first World Cup in 1983, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. India became the second team after the West Indies to win the Cricket World Cup. It was in 2011 when India did a miracle and won it for the second time. It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was leading the team.

Now, if India wins the World Cup 2023, it will become the first nation to win the tournament on home soil, and the second co-host to win the tournament after Sri Lanka (when they won in 1996).
