UK PM Keir Starmer Welcomes Trump’s 1st Phase of Peace Plan Deal Between Israel and Hamas Latest News: United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed the agreement between Israel and Hamas in the first phase of President Trump's peace plan.
Addressing a gathering in Mumbai, Keir Starmer called it a ‘profound relief’ felt around the world, particularly for those suffering from the hostility.
"I strongly welcome the news that a deal has been reached on the first stage of the Peace Plan in Gaza. This is a moment of profound relief that will be felt around the world, but particularly for the hostages, their families, and for the civilian population of Gaza who have all endured unimaginable suffering over the last two years.”
He appreciated the tireless diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the United States, and many others in securing this ‘crucial’ agreement.
He urged the implementation of the agreement without any delay and the simultaneous lifting of restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza.
“This Agreement must now be implemented in full without delay and be accompanied by the immediate lifting of all restrictions on life-saving humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Keir Starmer said.
Keir Starmer assured that the UK will support these ‘crucial immediate steps’ and the next stages of the talks to ensure the full implementation of the Peace Plan.
He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he also discussed the need for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, PM Modi and the Secretary-General of the United Nations had also welcomed the development based on the proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump.

On Gaza Peace Plan, Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah Abu Shawesh, told ANI, "Palestinians have a crystal clear position that we want to endorse any effort that will end the bloodshed and Israeli war in Gaza, and our families will go to sleep with full stomachs. We are looking at this positively."
