From 23% to 35%: Vedanta Plans to Boost Women Workforce in Key Industries
Vedanta Limited has set a goal to raise the participation of women in its workforce from the current 23 percent to 35 percent, with a long-term target of 50 percent. The company said this initiative is part of its broader focus on workforce diversity.
Priya Aggarwal Hebbar, non-executive director of Vedanta and chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited, noted that women currently make up 23 percent of Vedanta’s employees. She emphasized that the company is taking steps to increase this number while ensuring women have the support needed to succeed.
To achieve these targets, Vedanta has launched a nationwide campaign along with a LinkedIn recruitment drive. These initiatives are aimed at encouraging women to pursue careers in mining, metals, oil and gas, power, and technology. The company intends to provide opportunities for women to develop their careers in sectors where female participation has historically been limited.
Hebbar added that Vedanta is redesigning systems, deploying advanced technologies, and creating support structures to help women advance in core industries.
The company said these steps reflect a structured approach to workforce inclusion, with a focus on increasing female representation and preparing women for leadership and technical roles in key industrial sectors.
