Punjab govt has taken this decision to save electricity in the Summer Season

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has formally issued orders to change the timings of Punjab government offices from May 2, 2023 to July 15, 2023. All government offices located in Chandigarh and Punjab including Punjab Civil Secretariat Chandigarh will open at 7:30 am and close at 2:00 pm.

The Punjab government has taken this decision to save electricity in the summer season. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government said that changing the timings of government offices will save 300-350 MW of electricity.

Earlier, CM Bhagwant Mann had said that according to the information received from Powercom, the peak load of electricity consumption starts from 1:00 pm in the day. Meanwhile, a large part of the electricity is being consumed in the government offices. He had said that by closing the office at 2 pm, the electricity used in government offices can be saved.
