Spokesman News Service: Chandigarh, December 11: Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab Dr. S. Karuna Raju today met with a representative of different political parties regarding special summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls. In this meeting representatives of registered and unregistered Political Parties of Punjab were present.

Addressing the meeting Raju appealed to office bearers of all the parties to prepare the list of their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) as soon as possible and furnish it to CEO Office before December 18, 2018. He emphasized that during this special summary revision campaign the main focus is on the removal of repeat/multiple entries/demographically similar entries from electoral rolls.

Removal of permanently shifted electors and deceased electors would also be focused. CEO said that his Office with the coordination of District Electoral Officers will also initiate an awareness campaign for upcoming Parliamentary Elections. Dr. Raju has also appealed to the leaders of the political parties that they will ask their district units to join the election meetings at District Levels, so the whole process run smoothly without any hindrance.

On the request Of Office Bearer of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), CEO directed to write a letter to DEOs to supervise the work of BLOs especially in the areas, where less privileged voters reside. On the complaint of AAP regarding reading out of the Electoral Rolls by BLOs of some places in District Ferozepur, CEO immediately issued directions to Deputy Commissioner of the District and instruct to enquire about it and submit a report by December 12, 2018.
