Fazilka news: The Counter Intelligence unit of Faridkot, in close coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), has successfully foiled a major cross-border smuggling attempt along the land border near BOP GG-3 in Village Teja Rahela, under Sadar Police Station in Fazilka district.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday in an official statement that a huge consignment of heroin along with arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation.

The recovery includes one Ghaffar security pistol (MP-5 type), 20 pistols, 39 magazines, 310 live rounds (9 mm), two backpacks, and 2.160 kg of heroin.

According to the DGP, preliminary investigations revealed that Pakistan-based smugglers crossed the zero line and operated close to the border fence, attempting to exploit night conditions and dense fog to push arms and narcotics into Indian territory.

It further added that Punjab Police remains firmly committed to maintaining strict vigilance and enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against cross-border crimes to safeguard the security of the state.
