Ajit Pawar News: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was laid to rest with full state honours in Baramati in the presence of a large number of supporters. His sons, Parth and Jay, lit the funeral pyre, while his wife, Sunetra Pawar, paid her last respects.
Thousands of people attended the last rites of the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of the state and NCP chief. As a mark of mourning, shops remained closed in Yeola city of Nashik district.





The funeral was attended by several prominent leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, among others. Leaders, party workers, and NCP supporters laid wreaths and paid their respects.

Founder Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Sharad Pawar, 85, also attended the funeral of his nephew.

Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer (PSO), one attendant, and two crew members, the pilot-in-command and the first officer, lost their lives after the chartered aircraft they were travelling in crash-landed in Baramati, reportedly due to poor visibility. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) have been recovered, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) confirmed.
In an official statement issued on Thursday morning, MoCA said that all requisite response and investigative mechanisms were activated immediately following the accident. It added that ensuring a thorough, transparent, and time-bound inquiry remains a top priority.
The ministry further stated that a team of three officers from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Delhi, and another team of three officers from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Mumbai Regional Office, reached the crash site on January 28. “The Director General of AAIB also arrived at the site the same day,” the statement said
An investigation into the accident is currently underway, and the black box of the ill-fated aircraft has been recovered, MoCA confirmed. The ministry reiterated that it is fully committed to completing the investigation within a defined timeframe, strictly in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laid-down guidelines.
The investigation has been initiated in accordance with Rules 5 and 11 of the AAIB Rules, 2025, the statement added.
