State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an Excise Inspector posted at Phagwara in district Kapurthala

Chandigarh : State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an Excise Inspector posted at Phagwara in district Kapurthala red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Excise Inspector Satpal Jassal was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 from complainant Ravinder Kumar of Chahal Nagar, Phagwara.

The complainant has approached the VB and said that the he has given a surety bond in favor of Bala Ji Trader for getting VAT/GST number long time back. But the above said excise inspector has been threatening him and demanding bribe of Rs. 5,000 to recover the surety amount of defaulter firm to which he has furnished his surety. 

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused excise inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.  

 He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
