Baramati Plane Crash News: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on Wednesday morning, along with four others on board the aircraft in the Baramati area, leaving the political arena in shock.
Leaders across party lines, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed shock over the sudden demise of the leader and those on board the plane.
Prime Minister Modi said he was saddened by the tragic air crash.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “My thoughts are with all those who lost their loved ones in the crash. Praying for strength and courage for the bereaved families in this moment of profound grief.”
PM Modi said Pawar was a leader of the people, with a strong grassroots-level connect.
“He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening.”
PM Modi extended condolences to Pawar’s family and countless admirers.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, reacting to the incident, called it “very sad and tragic news.”
“Today is a dark day in Maharashtra’s political and social life. When the news came this morning that the plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar from Mumbai to Baramati had met with an accident, we were all praying for his safety. His passing has brought a mountain of grief upon Maharashtra,” MP Sanjay Raut said.

He added that there was a special bond between Pawar and Baramati.
“It is a strange coincidence that he passed away there. I never imagined that we would have to pay tribute to him like this,” Raut added.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other leaders have expressed shock and condolences to the bereaved families.
The news of the tragic demise of Shri Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash, is deeply shocking and profoundly distressing. It is an untimely loss of a leader who had a long and promising political career ahead.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has confirmed that no one on board the plane survived.
The aircraft carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others, including two crew members, crash-landed at Baramati airport, killing all five persons on board.

The deceased include personnel, one personal security officer (PSO) and one attendant, and two crew members, the pilot-in-command and the first officer, who were on board the Learjet 45 aircraft when the accident occurred.
