Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Wednesday inaugurated ‘Wings India 2026’ at Begumpet Airport, marking the start of Asia’s largest civil aviation event. The minister during the inaugural address declared that India is strategically moving to transition from a consumer of aviation technology to a global exporter within the next decade. He emphasised the government's focus on creating a robust domestic manufacturing ecosystem to meet the increasing international demand for aircraft and components.

A major highlight of the event was the display of Air India’s first line-fit Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Russia’s Ilyushin IL-114-300, which made its first appearance outside of Russia. Minister Naidu highlighted that while aircraft delivery delays have been a bottleneck, the industry expects improved supply flows this year.

Hosted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Telangana government, the biennial summit showcases India’s growing prowess across the aviation value chain. Wings India 2026 has attracted delegations from over 20 countries and 3,000 participants, including global CEOs and policymakers. The event features cutting-edge exhibitions of avionics and emerging technologies alongside critical discussions on carbon reduction and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
