Vijay Inder Singla today donated his one-month salary for the sake of the farmers in these turbulent times

Chandigarh: Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla today donated his one-month salary for the sake of the farmers in these turbulent times, when they are protesting against draconian farm laws imposed by Union Government.

Expressing solidarity with the farmers of Punjab in their fight, Vijay Inder Singla said, “These are no ordinary times & so they require extraordinary initiative on all our parts to help our farmers, stand in solidarity with their just demands, pertaining to which I have decided to contribute my one month's salary for their cause! I request everyone to contribute in whatever means they can to empower our farmers!”

Singla said that farmers are the backbone of our economy and they deserve all the respect and support. He said that these meagre earners deserve every citizen's support. The crisis faced by India’s agriculture is a known fact and in my view, this is going to worsen in near future.

Recalling BJP’s poll promise to double the farmer’s income, the Cabinet Minister stated that the promise to double farmers’ income by 2022 in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election manifesto or Sankalp Patra has invited ridicule because it’s impossible to achieve when these farm laws have been enacted to completely rule out Minimum Support Price (MSP).
