Shreyasi Singh’s Big Win in Jamui: From Shooting Champion to Tough MLA Taking On Hospitals and Highways

Bihar’s Jamui is witnessing the political rise of Shreyasi Singh, as the BJP leader secured a decisive victory in the 2025 Assembly election. According to media reports, she won with 123,868 votes and defeated Mohammad Shamsad Alam by a margin of 54,498 votes.

Not just a politician — Shreyasi Singh is a former international shooter and Commonwealth Games medallist. One media outlet described her as a “star double-trap shooter” whose sharp focus has translated into electoral success. Her journey from the shooting range to the political arena gives her a unique profile: young, sporty, and ambitious, and her re-election suggests that her appeal among Jamui’s voters is getting deeper.

But it's not only about victory but more action on the ground. In a surprise visit to Jamui’s Sadar Hospital, Shreyasi was visibly upset when she found the physiotherapy room locked. As reported by a media outlet, she reprimanded the civil surgeon and called for immediate accountability. She warned that absence of staff would not be tolerated. Her firm stance and willingness to confront inefficiencies add credibility to her promise of improving public health infrastructure.

Infrastructure is another area where she’s stepping in. As reported by “Jagran”, Shreyasi Singh inspected “National Highway 333”, which cuts through her constituency, and complained to regional officers about severe potholes. She even called up officials on the spot, demanding prompt and quality repairs, citing the dangers these road conditions pose to local commuters.

According to “Navbharat Times”, Jamui has a history of volatility; the constituency has changed its MLA 16 times since 1952. In this context, Shreyasi’s victory is not just a repeat win but a statement: she’s not just relying on her star appeal but actively taking action on constituency issues.
