PM Modi said the Skyroot's Infinity Campus reflects India's new vision and youth power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Indian space startup Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad via video conferencing on Thursday. Skyroot is India's leading private space company.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister spoke about India’s space journey from “limited resources" to having one of the "world’s most reliable launch vehicle.”

PM Modi said Skyroot's Infinity Campus reflects India’s new vision and youth power.

"Today the country is witnessing an unprecedented opportunity in the space sector. Today, the private sector is taking great strides in India's space ecosystem. Skyroot's Infinity Campus reflects India's new thinking, innovation, and youth power. The innovation, risk-taking, and entrepreneurship of our youth are reaching new heights, and today's program is a reflection of the fact that in the future, India will emerge as a leader in the global satellite launch ecosystem..." PM said.

Talking about India’s space journey, the Prime Minister said, "India's space journey started with limited resources. But our aspirations were never limited. There was a time when parts of a rocket were carried on a cycle. And today, with the world's most reliable launch vehicle, India has proven that dreams can be reached with resolution and not by resources. ISRO gave a new flight to India's space journey for decades... In these changing times, the space sector is expanding... We have made historic reforms in India's space sector... We made a new space policy. We tried to integrate startups and industries wth innovation..."

Hailing Gen Z, PM Narendra Modi said, "India's youth puts the nation's interests first. They utilise every opportunity wisely. When the government opened the space sector, the country's youth, especially our Gen Z, leapt forward to take full advantage of it. Today, India's more than 300 space startups are giving new hope to India's space future..."

Highlighting the role of young talent, the Prime Minister added, "Today, GenZ engineers, GenZ designers, GenZ coders, and GenZ scientists are creating new technologies, whether in propulsion systems, composite materials, rocket stages, or satellite platforms. India's youth are working in fields that were unimaginable just a few years ago. India's private space talent is making its mark globally. India's space sector is becoming an attractive destination for global investors..."

According to news agency ANI, during the inaugural ceremony, PM Modi also unveiled Skyroot's first orbital rocket, Vikram-I, with the capability to launch satellites to orbit.

The state-of-the-art facility, it said, will have around 2,00,000 square feet of workspace for designing, developing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles, with a capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.

Skyroot is founded by Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, both alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology and former ISRO scientists turned entrepreneurs.

In November 2022, Skyroot launched its sub-orbital rocket, Vikram-S, becoming the first Indian private company to launch a rocket to space, the ANI report said, citing a press release by the PMO.
