Hardoi (UP) : Three members of a family, including two girls, were killed and another seriously injured when their motorcycle was hit by a pickup van here, police said today.

The accident took place at the Barbar trisection near the Jahan Khedi chowki yesterday when the van tried to evade a trade tax department team checking the vehicles and collided with the bike killing Madhu (28) and her two daughters Tikka (7) and Bitiya (3) on the spot.

Her husband was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital, police said ,adding that bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Infuriated over the incident, the locals staged a protest on the road but were pacified by the police later.
