The relief comes few weeks before the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Petrol and Diesel prices in India: In a major development, the prices of petrol and diesel have been reduced by Rs 2 per litre, the news agency ANI reported quoting its sources on Thursday.

With the recent cut in the rates of domestic LPG cylinders, there were speculations that prices of petrol and diesel in India may also be reduced in view of the impending Lok Sabha election 2024.

Likewise, the rates have been reduced at a time when the Election Commission is likely to announce the schedule for Lok Sabha election 2024 anytime soon.

Earlier, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a cut of Rs 100 per cylinder in cooking gas prices. The development benefited nearly 33 crore households that use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as cooking fuel.

With the latest reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel, the consumers across India who use vehicles would get a huge respite from the same.
