Indian Navy warship INS Chennai is also moving towards the hijacked vessel to deal with the current situation.

Cargo ship MV Lila Norfolk Hijack Latest News: In a shocking incident, a cargo ship MV Lila Norfolk was hijacked on Thursday by the UK Maritime Trade Operations, a British military organisation near the Somalia coast. 

According to information, the incident is being closely monitored by the Indian Navy. Upon receiving the information, the Indian Navy rushed a warship towards it. Reports also suggest that the cargo ship was having 15 Indians on board. In the meantime, communication has been established with the crew.

The official statement by military officials stated that the Indian Navy received the information about the Cargo ship MV Lila Norfolk's hijack on Somalia's coast on Thursday evening. The Navy has been keeping a watch on the ship. 

In addition, the Indian Navy warship INS Chennai is also moving towards the hijacked vessel to deal with the current situation.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also commented on the current situation in the sea and about its potential impact on the country. He said that there were several reports on social media to which he wanted to clarify that the Government has not yet discussed any issue with the oil marketing companies and the world is witnessing a difficult situation where the two big regions of the world are in a state of conflict.

He added that in the last 7-10 days, India faced problems in shipping in the 'Red Sea Suez Canal', where 12 percent of the global shipping takes place. He further said that in 2023, 428 percent of global LNG cargoes passed through the region. As many as 8.2 million barrels of crude oil are supplied via this route daily and if there are any more challenges or disruption, it will have a big impact. 

Furthermore, he said that they have been watching this very carefully and that India has changed our supply, and some suppliers have even changed their routes. In this type of situation, he said that the primary responsibility of the government is to ensure that India has more energy resources in the ecosystem at affordable prices.
