Who was Bibi Rajni? Know her real story

People seem more interested to know about her.

Bibi Rajni movie real story, who was she? Ever since the Punjabi film Bibi Rajni has hit theatres, the audience has been enthralled with the story of Bibi Rajni. In the meanwhile, people are more interested to know about her.

Who was Bibi Rajni and what was her real story?

During the time of Guru Ram Das, a notable figure was Rajni, the youngest daughter of Rai Duni Chand, a revenue collector (kardar) of Patti. Rajni was a devoted Sikh and a disciple of the Guru. One day, as she sat with her sisters admiring new clothes given by their father, they all praised him for his generosity. Rajni, however, remarked that all blessings ultimately come from God, with their father being merely an instrument of His will. Unfortunately, her father overheard this comment and became furious.

This was not the first time Rajni had angered her father due to her deep religious convictions. Enraged by what he perceived as her ingratitude, her father married her off to a leper, sarcastically saying that she should see how her God would help her now. The leper was severely disfigured, with a foul smell emanating from his body. Despite this, Rajni accepted her fate without complaint, caring for her crippled husband with unwavering devotion. She remained steadfast in her faith, believing that God was testing her.

One day, while on her way to a nearby village, Rajni stopped at a pool. She placed her husband by the pool and went off to find food. During her absence, the leper saw a black crow dip into the pool and emerge white. Astonished by this miracle, he crawled to the pool and took a dip himself. To his amazement, he was completely cured.
When Rajni returned, she was shocked to see her husband healthy and whole. Initially, she suspected he might be someone else, but he showed her a finger he had deliberately left undipped, still bearing the marks of leprosy, as proof of his identity. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the couple thanked God and went to seek the Guru's blessings.

The pool where this miracle occurred would later become the site of Sri Harmandir Sahib. The water was believed to have medicinal properties, possibly due to the Basil (Tulsi) that grew abundantly along its banks. It was said that Guru Amar Das used to gather this herb to make poultices for an infected toe that troubled Guru Angad. The significance of this site is highlighted by the miraculous healing of Rajni's husband.
