The news of Pankaj Udhas' death has left everyone shocked.

Pankaj Udhas Death News: In a shocking piece of news, the prominent Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away on Monday following a prolonged illness, the family revealed. 

Confirming the news of Pankaj Udhas' death, the family members issued a statement in which they wrote: "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024, due to a prolonged illness."

According to the information, the legendary singer hasn't been well for the last few days. It has been reported that he took his last breath at the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai today.

Born on May 17, 1951, Pankaj Udhas earned huge fame as an Indian ghazal and playback singer. He was prominently known for his works in the Hindi film industry and Indian pop. He kicked off his career with a ghazal album titled 'Aahat' in 1980 and subsequently recorded several hits like 'Mukarar' in 1981, 'Tarrannum' in 1982, and 'Mehfil' in 1983 among others.

Following his success as a ghazal singer, he was later invited to appear and sing for a film by Mahesh Bhatt. He rose to further fame for singing in the 1986 film 'Naam', in which he sang "Chitthi Aayee Hai" which turned out to be an instant hit.

He also did playback singing for several Hindi films and even worked for albums and live concerts around the globe. In 2006, Pankaj Udhas was felicitated with Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, for his contribution to the music industry.
