The second Test against Sri Lanka will be Nagpur's first since it was given a 'poor' rating by the ICC during the South Africa series in 2015. However, the Nagpur surface had since been relaid and the fifth ODI between India and Australia on October 1 was played there.

The T20Is will be played on the alternative days starting December 20 in Cuttack before moving to Indore (December 22) and the conclusion of the tour in Mumbai on December 24. Thiruvananthapuram, that had initially been allotted a match of T20 against Sri Lanka, will instead now host New Zealand for a T20 on November 7.
