In 2025, India saw over 4.7 crore internet users protected from online threats, highlighting the growing cybersecurity challenges in the country. According to Kaspersky, nearly one in four internet users in India, around 24.7 percent, encountered web-based threats during the year. On average, users faced approximately 1,30,209 attacks each day, emphasizing the need for robust security measures.

Between January and December 2025, Kaspersky products detected and blocked 4,75,26,422 internet threats across computers in India. According to Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) data, India ranked 62nd globally in terms of internet users affected by web-based threats. Exploiting browser vulnerabilities and plug-in weaknesses remained the primary methods for cyberattacks, making routine software updates and secure browsing practices essential. Fileless malware was among the most dangerous threats in India, as it operates in computer memory and leaves minimal traces on infected systems, increasing the risk of undetected breaches.

Globally, the number of malicious email attacks rose by 15 percent in 2025. Nearly half of all emails worldwide were classified as spam, including phishing attempts, scams, and malware-laden messages. These trends underline the importance of digital awareness and email vigilance for both individuals and organizations.

Experts recommend keeping security software up to date, avoiding suspicious attachments or links, and reviewing browser security settings regularly. The report highlights the urgent need for proactive cybersecurity measures as internet usage and online transactions continue to grow in India and across the globe.
