Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon's best performance in Bangladesh, which saw him return with 22 wickets in the two-Test series, has elevated his position on the ICC Test player ranking to a career-best eighth - the first time that he has broken into the top 10, an International Cricket Council release revealed on Friday.

His match-winning, career-best haul of 13 for 154 in Chittagong, which also was the best performance by an Australian bowler in Asia, helped Australia draw level with a seven-wicket win.

Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, moved up one place to reach 22nd position, while spinner Mehidy Hassan has moved up to 29th. Mustafizur Rahman, too, made gains.

Australia, though, have slipped one place in the team rankings to fifth after levelling the series. India, South Africa, England and New Zealand find themselves occupying the top four slots, while Bangladesh remain ninth.
