Calvin and Prinkle clinch titles NRTS championship

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association has organized CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship for Men’s and Women’s Rs.50K prize money from July 31 to August 4in CLTA Tennis Stadium, Sector 10, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association has organized CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship for Men’s and Women’s Rs.50K prize money from July 31 to  August 4in CLTA Tennis Stadium, Sector 10, Chandigarh. 

Qualifier Prinkle Singh of CLTA Trainee clinch double crown in both singles and doubles. In the Women’s singles final Prinkle upset 8th seed Muskan Gupta in a 3 setter marathon match. Prinkle won the 1st set 7-5, in the 2nd set Prinkle was leading 5-3 and serving for the match. Muskan fought back and broke the Prinkle serve. Muskan took the 2nd set 7-5, in the final set Prinkle Singh came back strongly and maintained high quality game with her aggressive ground strokes. Finally Prinkle used her experience and took the final set easily 6-2.

In the Men’s Singles Final qualifier CLTA Trainee Calvin Golmei defeated another qualifier Udayan Bhakar in a 3 setter match. Calvin lost 1st set 1-6. Calvin came back strongly in 2nd set with his variations of his ground strokes, Calvin won the 2nd set 6-2. In the final set Calvin was serving 1st game, Udayan broke Calvin serve and in the 2ndgame Udayan hold his serve and leads 2-0 up. After 0-2 down Calvin bounced back and won the final set 6-3.                   

Jagjit Puri and Mrs. Bhupender Banta Singh, Member Executive distributed the prizes to the singles winners and runner-up.
