While Tata Group remains the title sponsor, this latest deal with Google Gemini signals a shift towards high-tech brand associations.
IPL’s Tech Evolution: BCCI Inks 3-Year Strategic Partnership with Google Gemini AI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has secured a lucrative INR 270 crore sponsorship deal with Google’s AI platform, Gemini ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) .
According to the report, the partnership is set for a three-year duration. A BCCI official told PTI that the deal reinforces the global appeal of the world's biggest T20 league.
The agreement highlights the growing interest of artificial intelligence platforms in Indian cricket, following a similar move in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), where Gemini's rival, ChatGPT, is currently a sponsor.
The BCCI previously restructured its sponsorship portfolio after the government ban on real-money gaming platforms like Dream11, leading to Apollo Tyres taking over as the jersey sponsor for INR 579 crore.
While Tata Group remains the title sponsor, this latest deal with Google Gemini signals a shift towards high-tech brand associations.
The upcoming IPL 2026 season is scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 31, aiming to further modernise the fan experience.
