
As Vinesh Phogat arrived home, a huge security presence was evident at the airport.
New Delhi: India's celebrated wrestler Vinesh Phogat, was seen in tears as she returned home from Paris on Saturday at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport after her record and heartbreaking journey in Paris Olympics 2024.
Notably, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the 50kg freestyle final after she was found 100 gm overweight. She even filed an appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sports demanding the Silver medal she deserved. However, the CAS declined her appeal.
"I want to thank the people of the country who were supporting us in our fight. Our fight is not over yet," said wrestler Vinesh Phogat upon her arrival.
As Vinesh Phogat arrived home, a huge security presence was evident at the airport, while her family and friends, including Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malik, welcomed Vinesh.
Vinesh's brother Harvinder Phogat said, "People have come here at the (Delhi) airport to welcome her. People are also waiting to welcome her to our village. People are excited to meet Vinesh and encourage her."
Following her disqualification on the day of her gold-medal match in the Paris Olympics 2024, Vinesh Phogat remained in Paris to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seeking a shared silver medal. However, her appeal was ultimately rejected on Wednesday.
