Lucknow is set to welcome a sprawling 15-acre rose garden at Janeshwar Mishra Park, scheduled to open on February 28 alongside a one-day Rose Festival that blends cultural performances with environmental awareness. Janeshwar Mishra Park, located in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, is a major urban park named in memory of the late politician Janeshwar Mishra.

The garden is described as the second-largest rose garden in India and a significant addition to the city’s green urban landscape. The festival is organised under the theme “Love for the Environment” by the Lucknow Development Authority in collaboration with the cultural NGO Ripartwahar Foundation, which was founded in 2009 by theatre practitioners Bhupesh Rai and Priyanka Sarkar.

Visitors will be invited to participate in tree-planting activities, attend environmental workshops, and explore art installations focused on sustainability, turning awareness into action. As part of the initiative, saplings will be distributed under the “Breath Farming Project” to encourage community engagement and promote urban greenery.

The one-day festival aims to bring citizens, particularly youth, into conversations and initiatives around sustainable urban development and the expansion of green spaces. Organisers highlight the event as a platform where dialogue, music, poetry, and exhibitions converge to foster a deeper connection between culture and the environment.
