Delhi Capitals appointed all-rounder Axar Patel as the Vice-Captain
NEW-DELHI: Experienced Australian opener David Warner has been appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2023. One of the toughest players in the IPL, Warner will replace Rishabh Pant in the upcoming season. Pant has been away from cricket action since a serious car accident took place in December.
Delhi Capitals announced Warner's captaincy on Thursday (March 16). Warner is the third highest run scorer in the IPL. Earlier, he captained Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. The left-handed batsman has scored 5668 runs in 155 matches in the IPL so far with an excellent strike rate of 140.58.
Delhi Capitals have appointed Indian team's star all-rounder Axar Patel as the vice-captain for the upcoming season. Axar Patel will be seen in a leadership role for the first time in IPL. Patel has excelled in IPL and international cricket over the years and is one of the key players for Delhi.
In their official press release, Delhi Capitals said, 'Delhi Capitals, co-owned by JSW-GMR, today announced that Australian batsman David Warner will be the captain of the upcoming IPL. Warner will take over the captaincy from Rishabh Pant, who is currently undergoing rehab."
Meanwhile, Axar Patel has been made the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals. The release further said, 'The franchise has also announced that former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will be the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals. Ganguly has been associated with Delhi Capitals before, when he was Bhumika's mentor. The Delhi Capitals team will play their first match on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants.
Indian Premiere League 2023.....
As per the official sources, Indian Premiere League will start from 20 March 2023 and according to IPL Schedule 2023 the final match will be played on 1 June 2023. Reportedly, instead of 8, now 10 teams are going to play in the IPL. This time the teams of Lucknow and Gujarat have been included in the IPL.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the IPL 2023 Schedule on February 17, 2023. The matches will be played in the home and away format where all the teams will play 7 home games and 7 away games in the league stage. The Indian Premier League is scheduled to have 70 league-stage matches and will be played across 12 venues over 52 days.
According to the IPL Schedule 2023, a total of 74 league matches are going to be completed by May. The list of the teams are as follows- Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royal, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders.
