In a historic milestone for the city’s sports community, all-rounder Kashvee Gautam has become the first female cricketer from the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), Chandigarh, to be awarded a BCCI annual central contract. Included in Grade C for the 2025-26 season, the 22-year-old earns a retainership of Rs 10 lakh, alongside fixed match fees for playing matches across different formats.

Reflecting on the achievement, Kashvee described it as a major turning point, especially after overcoming two significant injuries. Her rise follows a breakout 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, where she claimed 11 wickets to lead Gujarat Giants to their first-ever playoffs.

Despite missing the recent World Cup due to a knee injury, her recent performance in the 2026 WPL, maintaining an economy of 7.75, solidified her standing.

Kashvee, who trained under coach Nagesh Gupta, started her journey at the Sector 32 government school ground. She recently gained social media attention for an interaction with Indian captain Hardik Pandya, who gifted her a bat.

Currently representing Chandigarh in the Senior Women’s One Day Tournament in Vadodara, Kashvee credited her success to the support of her coach and senior teammates. This contract serves as a massive boost as she prepares for the upcoming T20 Women’s World Cup.
