GNDU to Explore Role of Artificial Intelligence in Punjabi Language at World Punjabi Conference
Amritsar’s Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) is set to host a three-day World Punjabi Conference from February 20 to 22. The event aims to bring together a global assembly of scholars, renowned authors, and thinkers to discuss the future of the Punjabi language, literature, and culture. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Karamjit Singh highlighted that the university is already working to integrate these traditional subjects with modern technology within its curriculum.
A central focus of this year’s conference is the "Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Punjab, Punjabi, and Punjabiyat." Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head of the School of Punjabi Studies, noted that the sessions will explore how emerging tech like AI can be utilised to preserve and promote Punjabi identity.
The conference features a high-profile lineup of speakers, including former Punjab Chief Secretary K B S Sidhu, former MP Tarlochan Singh, and Padma Bhushan awardee Sardara Singh Johal. Other notable participants include social worker Surinderpal Singh Ubrai, Sant Baba Mahendra Singh UK Wale, and businessman Charanjit Singh Bath.
Over the three days, the university will host scientific sessions, panel discussions, and special lectures aimed at addressing the language's role in a globalised world.
