CID Apprehends Hyderabad Cricket Association President, Office Bearers in IPL 2025 Ticket Scam
Hyderabad – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday apprehended several office bearers of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) in connection with a ticket scam during the IPL 2025, ANI reported.
HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao was among those taken into custody by the CID in relation to irregularities in ticket sales at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Other individuals apprehended in the case include:
- J.S. Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer of the HCA
- Sunil Kante, CEO of the HCA
- Rajendra Yadav, General Secretary of Sri Chakra Cricket Club
- G. Kavitha, President of Sri Chakra Cricket Club
According to NDTV, a vigilance probe into the matter revealed irregularities related to ticket allocation and governance within the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
The report stated that HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao and other officials had allegedly pressured the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for additional tickets — including tickets intended for personal sale — and were involved in the black-marketing of tickets.
SRH reportedly accused Rao of intimidation and blackmail. Following these allegations, the Telangana government ordered a vigilance inquiry, after which the CID registered an FIR against the accused.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the extent of the scam and identify additional individuals involved.
