Priyanshu defeated Denmark in a thrilling Men's Singles Final
ORLEANS: Indian men's singles shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat won his maiden Tour title by defeating Denmark's Magnus Johansson in the final of the Orleans Masters 2023 in France on Sunday. 21-year-old Priyanshu defeated Denmark 21-15, 19-21, 21-16 in a thrilling men's singles final that lasted one hour and eight minutes.
This is the first BWF Super 300 title for Rajawat, who was also the youngest team member of the Indian badminton team that won the historic 2022 Thomas Cup in Bangkok last year. Priyanshu dominated the final without giving Magnus any chance of a comeback in the first game. The Indian led 11-8 at halftime of the opening game and took advantage of the lead to take the first game.
The second game started close despite Priyanshu's strong comeback (17-17) and Magnus held the lead and lost the third game to win the match and the title.
After winning the title, he said, "I am very happy. This is a big moment for me, winning the Orleans Masters, my first BWF World Tour Super 300 title." Priyanshu has a runner-up finish at the 2022 Odisha Open, a BWF Super 100 event and has four BWF International Challenge/Series titles to his credit.
