Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison confirmed that officers are investigating the matter, according to a report in the Tribune. However, spokesperson stated that no suspects have been identified so far.

The Khalsa Diwan Society, which manages the gurdwara, has blamed the act on a small group of Sikh separatists promoting the Khalistan movement. In a statement, the society described the graffiti as part of "an ongoing campaign by extremist forces" aiming to create fear and division within the Canadian Sikh community.

“These actions undermine the values of inclusivity, respect, and mutual support that are foundational to both Sikhism and Canadian society,” the society said, urging Canadians to remain united against extremism.
