Gurpatwant Pannun Assassination Plot Investigation Latest News Today: The United States emphasized on Tuesday that while there has been "valuable engagement" with India's inquiry committee regarding the alleged foiled assassination plot of US-based pro-Khalistani figure Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the US will not be fully satisfied until meaningful accountability is achieved.
Speaking at a media briefing, US Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel highlighted the cooperation between the two nations in their respective investigations. However, Patel made it clear that the US is seeking further action and tangible outcomes from the inquiry.
"We understand that India’s inquiry committee will continue its investigation, and we expect to see additional steps based on last week's discussions between our officials," Patel said. "The United States wants to see full accountability from the results of the investigation, and we won’t be satisfied until that occurs."
Patel refrained from disclosing further details, noting that the case remains under investigation by both governments. The remarks follow a recent visit by Indian officials to the US to probe the involvement of a former Indian government official in the alleged assassination plot targeting Pannun, a vocal proponent of Khalistani separatism.
