Israel vs Iran War Death Toll Latest News Update Today: In a significant escalation of tensions, Iran launched over 180 missiles toward Israel, striking parts of Israeli territory on Tuesday evening. This marks the second such attack by Iran this year, following a similar missile and drone assault in April.
Israeli military sources confirmed that most of the missiles were intercepted by defense systems, with only a few striking military installations, restaurants, and schools. The full extent of the damage remains unclear, but military bases near Tel Aviv were reportedly hit. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Iran of "consequences," stating that the attack was a "big mistake."
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that 90% of their missiles hit their intended targets, including three Israeli military bases. Hypersonic missiles, according to IRGC sources, were used for the first time in this attack.
The IRGC stated that the missile barrage was in retaliation for the targeted killings of key Iranian-backed militia leaders, including Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoshan in Beirut, as well as Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei personally authorized the missile strikes, according to a senior Iranian official.
While Israel has not acknowledged responsibility for these killings, Tehran holds Israel accountable and has vowed a stronger retaliation if further Israeli actions ensue. Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut have already been reported, signaling that the conflict may further intensify in the coming days.
