Youth Congress workers protest demanding release of SC/ST scholarship funds

The Punjab Youth Congress workers protested in Chandigarh on Tuesday demanding the release of SC/ST scholarship funds from the Centre. The police used water cannons to disperse the protestors and several workers were also detained.

The Punjab Youth Congress in Chandigarh have come on roads to protest against the Centre. They are demanding the release of the funds kept for the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) scholarship at the Centre.

The Congress leaders who reached the protest show said that 9,14,132 students of Punjab are suffering due to non-release of Rs.1615.79 crore to the post matric scholarship scheme for SC/ST category students.


This act was led by Amarjit Lali, President of Youth Congress of Punjab. In this protest, Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmasot was also present.
