Chandigarh: Taking note of the news report published by Rozana Spokesman on Saturday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court advocate served a notice to the Punjab government for misuse of air travel by Punjab legislators.

A news report of Rozana Spokesman exposed an illegal practice being followed by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs, that instead of emphasizing upon the concerned MLAs to furnish a certificate in respect of journey undertaken and amount spent by him on such journey, the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has evolved   an illegal practice under which for the first ten months of the financial year, an amount of Rs. 30,000 is credited in the account of each MLA, along with salary of Rs. 84,000 per month.

In other words, each MLA  is being paid Rs. 1,14,000 per month, inclusive of Rs. 30,000 per month towards reimbursement of travelling expenses of the MLAs and or his family members.

Arora in his notice mentioned that a serious fraud is being committed on exchequer by none else than MLAs, who are the guardians of law in the State of Punjab.  He further mentioned that the news report further states that the aforesaid illegal practice was devised in the year 2015, by some officers of the Parliamentary Affairs Department of Punjab Government during the previous SAD-BJP rule, and certificates are not being collected from any MLA before crediting Rs. 30,000 per month in the salary account.

This undue and illegal benefit is being availed by MLAs of all political parties, irrespective of party affiliations.
