Candle Light March taken to pay tribute to Mayank

Ferozepur: The residents of Ferozepur – citizens, students, parents, teachers, businessmen, social organizations held Candlelight March to pay tribute to a 16-year-old boy crushed under a Roadways bus on Sunday evening.

The residents also showed resentment over the indifferent attitude of the administration for not banning the entry of heavy vehicles in the city despite representation from all sections. Mayank Sharma – son of Deepak Sharma a teacher in the Education Department - was a class IX student and was going to a stadium to play badminton when he met with the accident.

He was a badminton player and has reportedly participated in district and state level competitions.Meanwhile, following the incident, the residents have demanded a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles in the town.

Taking cognizance of the situation to ensure the people’s safety, the entry of heavy vehicle was banned by the district administration from 8 am to 8 pm and the orders would remain in force until November 30 said Ramvir Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur.
