IT raid at branches of Gopal’s sweets

The Income Tax Department today conducted raids at a popular eating joint-cum-sweets shop, Gopal’s sweets.
A total of 19 premises of Gopal’s were raided by the department today.

The Gopal’s chain has its premises in Panchkula, Mohali, Patiala and Ludhiana. It has three premises in Chandigarh. The raids were held simultaneously at all premises.

In addition to these premises, raids were also held at the residential premises of its owners in Chandigarh and Patiala. Computer data was collected and some incriminating documents were seized. The department is hopeful of unearthing a huge amount of unaccounted money of this chain.

Gopal’s is a popular eating joint which started from Patiala and soon spread its wings in the tricity. It was opened in Ludhiana recently.

It’s first outlet was opened at Phuwara Chowk in Patiala and the second one at Leela Bhawan in the same city.

The production of the Gopal’s chain is handled from Patiala while the sales department operates from Chandigarh.

The raids were conducted on the directions of Additional Director of Income Tax (Investigations), Manish Sareen.
