The Commission has recommended legal action against Langah and prosecution of IO SHO Satpal u/s 182 of IPC, besides compensation for Sandeep Kumar s/o Tarsem Raj, to be recovered from the erring IO, in the case of Tarsem Raj vs State of Punjab FIR no 64/29.10.2015 u/s 18 NDPS Act at Dera Baba Nanak. It has further recommended that Sucha Singh Langah, former minister, be booked u/s 120-B of IPC for conspiring with the IO to falsely implicate the complainant's son, Sandeep Kumar.

The third interim report has been submitted to the Chief Minister's Office for further action as per Commission's recommendations, according to a spokesperson of Home Department.

The Commission, which has dismissed 81 complaints on various grounds, in this round of its investigation, has also suggested cancellation of FIR against Lok Insaaf Party Leader and MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, after taking appropriate order from the court, in the case of Simarjit Singh Bains vs State of Punjab, against FIR 207/21.10.2015 u/s 186, 332, 353, 188, 149 of IPC.

The third interim report of the Commission, relating to 101 cases/complaints received by it across the state, has recommended cancellation of FIRs in a total of 12 cases, five of them after taking appropriate orders from the Court. The Commission has also recommended action against two Investigation Officers (IOs) for their alleged biased role under the political influence.

It may be recalled that Punjab Chief Minister Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had entrusted Justice (Retd) Mehtab Singh Gill and former District and Sessions Judge B.S. Mehndiratta the task of investigating the alleged false cases/FIRs registered during the previous government.

In its second interim report submitted last month, the Commission had found political vendetta involved in all the 47 cases identified by it as false. In that report, the Commission had recommended cancellation of FIRs in 37 of these cases, while in four cases it has suggested compensation to accused acquitted by courts. In the remaining six, it recommended other action, such as not to file challans in courts.

Earlier, it had submitted its first interim report in August recommending compensation in 130 cases after examining 172 out of total 4,200 complaints.
