Mohali: Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Aurangabad in Bullandshaher district of Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested in connection with the gruesome double murder of journalist KJ Singh and his mother Gurcharan Kaur. Police said that the Gaurav has cofessed his crime and the car belonging to KJ Singh had been recovered from him.

Besides it, other household goods including one watch, one DVD player, one tele flash camera, three ATM cards, two mobile phones of deceased, one watch had been recovered from Gaurav, who was detained this morning near Home Land Enclave.

Police said that it was a case of vengeance. Police said that Gaurav had revealed that KJ Singh had slapped him when he was whiling awayt time in the park during the day. He said that he had arguments with KJ Singh and to take the revenge he killed him. He informed the police that he also killed KJ Singh's mother because she had raised the alarm in the adjoining room.

Police said that it had got information this morning that some people were moving in a car in a supcious manner. After that an alert was sounded and all PCR vans were asked to check the car. A PCR party led by constable Parminder Singh and Constable Ranjit Singh and ASI Ajay Pathak inrerceprted the car near Home Land Enclave. The car was bearing a fake number plate.

On serach, a slip bearing the name of KJ Singh was recovered from the car. And further inspection of its engine number of chasis no it was found that original it was PB-65 A- 0164 car belonging to KJ Singh. After the interception of the car, SHO Jarnail Singh arrived and he questioned Gaurav, who admitted that he was living in Kajheri village and killed the journalist because he had slapped him. Gaurav works on daily wage basis. He appeared to be a frustrated youth.

It may be mentioned that after killing KJ Singh and his mother on the night of September 22 and 23, the killer had taken away his car and certain other belongings. 

For the past one month, police was engaged in the investigation of this case. It has inspected long footage of CCTV cameras and also questioned several people including five youngesters in connection with this murder case. Close family members of the KJ Singh were also questioned.
