Daudta Punjab's aim: awareness about Women Safety and A Drug Free Life

Daudta Punjab in association with Chandigarh Administration through the Department of Tourism is organising the 3rd edition of HDFC Bank Run the Night - Glow Run in Chandigarh from 6.00 pm to 10:00 on 14th October 2017. 

The HDFC Bank Glow Run is one of its kind event which features a chip-timed half marathon and a 5 km fun run/walk at night in the city which promises to provide a mesmerising experience to all sports enthusiasts, participants and the crowd All participants irrespective of the race category would be given a beautiful medal, a branded t-shirt and refreshments.

Water, energy drinks, entertainment and medical support would be provided on route. Along-with Chandigarh Tourism and Chandigarh Police, Daudta Punjab aims to spread Awareness about Women Safety and A Drug Free Society. Last year, the event was attended by more than 2000 runners from the tricity and from Delhi, Mumbai and many other cities. 

This year the number seems to be swelling with huge response from the individual participants, schools, colleges, universities and corporates in the region. Daudta Punjab is an organisation dedicated to promote healthy lifestyle amongst the youth through long distance running and other sporting events. The inaugural event of Daudta Punjab was Patiala Marathon last year in Patiala which was an international standard event that was attended by almost 5000 athletes from all over the world including elite athletes from Ethiopia and Kenya. 

Jitender Yadav, Director Tourism, Chandigarh told mediapersons that “The route of the marathon will be illuminated and the traffic regulated for four hours on the day of the event by the Chandigarh traffic police to give a safe passage to the participants so that the participants can also enjoy the night landscape of the city.
