4-yr-old Patiala girl kidnapped

Patiala: A four-year-old girl was allegedly abducted when she was playing outside her residence in Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar last evening.

The police have registered a case on the complaint of her father under Section 365 of the IPC. The missing child belongs to a migrant family from Uttar Pradesh. Her father Jagram (26) is a painter and mother Rama Devi is a domestic help.

As per the statement of Jagram, the family was performing ‘hawan” in the home while the girl was playing outside. When they came out, they could not find the girl. A passerby informed them that he had seen a person taking away the girl but could not see his face.

The DSP, Patiala City-I, Saurabh Jindal, said they had registered a case and hunt was on to trace the child. “We have constituted police teams which are keeping strict vigil in the area and the CCTV grabs of the area are also being studied to find the child. Bringing the child back with safety is our first priority,” he added. —
