The ongoing war against drugs is not just a policing effort—it's a governance revolution.
Chandigarh: In a historic display of commitment, efficiency, and zero tolerance towards drug trafficking, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has achieved a massive breakthrough in its ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh.” On Day 127 of this sustained offensive, 143 more drug smugglers were arrested and significant contraband was seized, adding to a growing tally that reflects the success of a well-coordinated and determined war against drugs.
This state-wide campaign has already resulted in the arrest of 20,784 drug smugglers in just 127 days, a feat unmatched by any previous government, marking a record-setting achievement for Punjab’s law enforcement under the Mann administration.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s Leadership: Driving a New Era of Accountability
The ongoing war against drugs is not just a policing effort—it’s a governance revolution. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s clear vision and direct orders have mobilized Punjab’s entire administrative and police machinery. His directive to Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and SSPs to work in coordination reflects his hands-on governance style.
To ensure transparency and focused progress, the state government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, to regularly monitor and steer this fight, proving once again that this is not a symbolic move—it’s a full-fledged mission.

- Rs 54,750 in drug money was seized
- 105 FIRs were registered
- 411 targeted locations were raided across 28 police districts

These operations involved 180+ teams, 1200 police personnel, and supervision from 79 gazetted officers, showcasing the scale and seriousness of this anti-drug crackdown.
Three-Pronged Strategy: EDP Model Brings Results
Under CM Mann’s leadership, the Punjab Government is using a smart, holistic approach—Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention (EDP)—to tackle the drug problem. Unlike previous governments that relied on reactive measures, this campaign is proactive, people-centric, and sustained.
Notably, special attention is being given to rehabilitation, with police teams actively encouraging addicts to choose treatment and recovery over a life of addiction and crime.
Punjab Sets National Benchmark
With over 20,000 arrests, regular seizures, and strong rehabilitation drives, Punjab has set a national example of how a state government can tackle a deep-rooted problem with political will, professionalism, and public participation.
This achievement is a direct result of the Mann Government’s unwavering resolve and its belief that a safe, secure, and drug-free Punjab is not just a promise—but a reality in the making.
This is not just a crackdown—it’s a transformation. And it’s happening under one government, one leader, and one mission: Bhagwant Mann’s Punjab.
