“On the night of May 9, the US Vice President tried to reach out to me 3–4 times, but I was in back-to-back meetings with the armed forces. When I finally returned the call, he warned me of a big attack from Pakistan,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister sharply criticized the Congress party, accusing it of aligning with Pakistan's narrative.

“India is becoming self-reliant, but Congress is now dependent on Pakistan for issues. They have to import their issues from Pakistan,” he said.

Modi also alleged that Congress and its allies have, “unfortunately become spokespersons of Pakistani propaganda.”

He revisited the time when the Indian armed forces conducted surgical strikes, stating that instead of supporting the military, Congress demanded proof.

“When Indian armed forces carried out surgical strikes, Congress asked for evidence,” said PM Modi, pointing at what he called the opposition’s longstanding mistrust of the armed forces.

He also condemned Congress for not fully acknowledging the Kargil victory, stating, “It has been a habit with Congress to have a negative approach towards our armed forces. To this day, they have not wholeheartedly embraced the Kargil win.”

In a veiled swipe at the opposition, Modi said, “Terrorists and their masters are shedding tears in Pakistan—and watching them, some people are crying here as well.”

On the military front, PM Modi lauded India’s defensive capabilities and said that India’s air defence systems are being recognized globally.

“Pakistan launched 1,000 missiles and drones at India, but our armed forces destroyed them mid-air. The world is now talking about the strength of India’s air defence systems,” he said.
