“Milk producers must rise up to the occasion and start supplying milk directly to the consumers instead of middlemen. To encourage the milk producers for this cause the Punjab government is supply subsidy of Rs.4 lakh to the farmers to set up their own units to enable them to supply the milk directly to the consumers.” It was disclosed by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Animal Husbandry, Fishery and Dairy Development Minister in a press communiqué released here today.

Mr. Sidhu said that it is sorry state of affairs that in the present situation milk producers are struggling hard to fetch the justifiable price of their milk on the other hand consumers are also fighting to get pure and unadulterated milk. He said that milk producers should grab this opportunity and they must sell their milk directly to the consumers of their nearby cities. He said that by doing so milk producers could surly enhance their income by Rs. 10 to 12 per liter.
