Punjab Police Cracks Pro-Khalistan Graffiti Case in Record Time, Ensuring State's Safety Under CM Mann's Leadership
Chandigarh: In yet another testament to the Punjab Government’s unwavering resolve to ensure peace and security, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, working under the directions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, successfully cracked the Pro-Khalistan graffiti case within just 24 hours, arresting two accused, including a minor.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, stated that the swift action demonstrates the efficiency and commitment of the Punjab Police in safeguarding the state against disruptive and anti-national elements. Pro-Khalistan slogans had appeared at three locations in Amritsar on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, with Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the USA-based head of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), claiming responsibility through a social media video.
The arrested accused have been identified as Jashanpreet Singh (22), a resident of Dargabad village in Batala, and a 17-year-old juvenile. Preliminary investigations revealed that both individuals were in contact with foreign-based operative Shamsher Singh alias Shera Maan, who directed them to carry out the act on Pannu’s instructions via the social media app Snapchat. Despite being promised payment for the graffiti, no money was ever received.
DGP Yadav affirmed that further investigation is underway, adding that this quick breakthrough underscores the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any activity threatening the state’s harmony.
Commissioner of Police Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, credited the coordinated efforts of the investigative team led by DCP Ravinderpal Singh, along with ADCPs Jagbinder Singh and Harpal Singh, ACPs Harminder Singh and Shivdarshan Singh, Inspector Amolak Singh (CIA Incharge), Inspector Mohit Kumar (SHO Cantonment), Inspector Gurpreet Singh (SHO Civil Lines), and Inspector Amandeep Kaur (SHO A Division). Their meticulous planning and prompt action ensured the timely arrest of the culprits.
The investigation revealed that the accused purchased spray paint from Batala, executed the graffiti, and then shared photographs with Shera Maan as proof. Three separate FIRs have been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act at Police Stations Cantonment, Division-A, and Civil Lines.
The Punjab Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that no anti-social forces succeed in disturbing the state’s peace. This achievement marks another milestone in CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s mission to make Punjab safe, secure, and free from divisive forces.
