Chandigarh, August 23 State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Block Development & Panchayat Officer (BDPO) and Junior Engineer (JE) both are posted at Maur block, Bathinda district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.12,000. Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Makhan Singh,

BDPO and Rajinder Singh JE were caught red handed on the complaint of Hoshiar Singh resident of Raikhana, Bathinda. Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that the above said BDPO and JE were demanding bribe of Rs. 22000/- to release a usage certificate (UC) regarding development grant issued to the gram panchayat Raikhana.

He said the complainant had already given Rs. 10,000 as a first installment to them. After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and both the accused were caught red handed and Rs.12000 of second installment recovered from them in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
